I am a high functioning BP. I have a very high stress job, and I find that coming home -- that half hour commute -- usually ends up triggering me, my wife is very demanding that I come home at specific times so she can get a break from watching the kids and I have to work late sometimes. Lately my Risperdal seems to be less effective and we've upped the dosage. Can anyone offer advice on how to calm down and not fly into a rage coming home? I think its the switching gears from work to low key home life. My wife doesnt deserve my behavior and she feels it is her fault for the way I am acting since I go into a rage coming home. She thinks its home life, I think it's bipolar with another challenge to work on. I dont blame her, but I dont have an excuse to be in tears and then paranoid, and then raging. When I do get home if my mood is changing I try to escape confrontation for at least an hour. Working on something or cooking helps. After that I seem to relax into my home life. So its manageable, it has to be, but if I am confused I lack the ability to reign myself in. Then I suffer an amazing amount of guilt after I accuse my wife of not loving me... My pdoc had me try xanax before entering the house but it didnt help the situation. Can anyone suggest a technique or medical treatment they are on to maintain control that I can discuss with my doctor?

Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

An example would be to read a book if you were travelling by train. That stops you thinking about work, relaxes you and means you are better able to connect with home life.
A hort walk would also help but if you have to be back quickly it limits you to something in the car. talking books?
