I've taken xanax for several years on an as needed basis. Please take the smallest dose possible and don't overuse them as they're highly addictive. I hated klonipin too, and nothing like xanax. It has been really helpful to me when I'm manic-definitely takes the edge off. I rarely take more than 25 mg a day, (my psychiatrist prescribes me 75 mg..but he's a real pill pusher). I don't know your situation, but I'm a recovered addict too, so I have to watch myself with the benzos.

I have a history of substance abuse and I've been put on .125, not .25. Don't think it gets lower than that. I really hope it helps because I need something in the day and Klon just won't work for me.

I had a paradoxical reaction to Klonopin.
Instead of calming me down, it agitated me to the extreme .

I now take .05 mg of Xanax on as needed basis ....up to 4 tabs a day.

I have never used 4 tabs a day, I use only when my anxiety is severe .

I have not had any problems and I don't over use the med.

It works very well for me

Xanax has always worked for me but since it makes me sleepy and is highly addictive, I've chosen not to take it.

I do take Klonipin for my anxiety but I don't take it as needed, its part of my medication regimen. I don't feel anything taking it, but it relieves my anxiety without making me sleepy.

i have taken .05mg xanax for 7 years now and it has saved my life more than once. i used to take it occasionally when i was really anxious, now i take it twice a day. it stops me from throwing up in the mornings when i go to work (isn't anxiety nice) and helps me to sleep at night. i don't take it on my days off unless i am really stressed and there have been months when i didn't need it, but right now i do. i love it, no side effects other than drowsiness (which i don't experience during the day). hugs and puppy kisses

xanex was always my favorite but my dr has me on ativan which is supposedly a little less addictive.

Because it's so addictive my pdoc switched me to Propranolol.
I like it a lot better, no drugged feeling.
