My ex husband has denied that he was diagnosed bi-polar. I am wondering if he will always deny the diagnoses. He claims he has anxiety, this after our son who is 9 was diagnosed by his councilor of having anxiety disorder. A diagnoses I believe can be brought on by having to deal with his fathers mood swing and demanding ways. Our entire marriage I spent almost everyday counseling and calming his father. After our son was born with his medical condition and going through the entire process all of on my own basically opened my eyes to how pathetic my life truly was with my ex. When our son was 3 I divorced him.
My Ex's parents both have depression and are bi-polar. As do all of his brothers and sisters. He is one of 5.
I am afraid for my boy.
I am a very laid back person who is pretty calm about most everything.
Some may say I get a bit excited when it comes to cleanliness and germs. I do admit I have a touch of OCD that I have always had (my mother has always said I was a high achiever and clean as a kid) but became heightened after my youngest was born with medical issues. He has respiratory issues so cleanliness is a must in my home.
His father has stated to our son more than once that he will be "sensitive" like him.........
This is why I got our son into counseling.
But I am worried that he will be like his father.
Shut off from the world. Ego so big that nobody can ever prove him wrong, and never be able to say he is sorry. Mean and ugly to people he believes are less than him. Drug and sexually abusive (his father cheated on me more than I will ever truly know)
My son doesn't show any of these type of behaviors........
But it still scares me.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

Sounds like amazing advice

Very wise words. Thank you for reminding me of what is most important. And yes I know OCD is part of anxiety disorder as well.
Also to fdlstx......thank you for the song :0)
You say your ex is bipolar but that your son hasn't shown any signs of bipolar.
If he does then please get him seen by a doctor at that time.
Not sure what else can be said.
I'm sorry you had a bad time with your husband but most people with bipolar aren't like that. And you need to distinguish the bipolar from the personal traits.
I am sorry of anything I posted offended you. I guess I maybe should have posted in the other site of friends and family or maybe made my post in question form. I would never assume that everyone who have struggled with bipolar is negative like my ex. I am only concerned for my son.
So please again. 'I am sorry'
