Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I have sessions like yours but they are rare. Even when he had be stabilized for 3 solid years with the meds, I got something out of every session. That's my experience. My doc sugarcoats nothing and some days, like today, he is really putting me on the spot with issues. It's uncomfortable but necessary. He's awesome. Good luck. Maybe it's time for a new doc for you?
Yeah I may have to go search for another. Problem is, I also go to dbt and am supposed to see a counselor that is involved with the dbt program......and there aren't any available. Decisions.....decisions...sigh
I've got to do something because the individual therapy is really starting to suck and I've talked to her about it but nothing changes.
And I worry about having to quit my dbt over it as well. I'm going to call the coordinator and talk to him about it....see what he says, can't hurt to try.
I wish I had the answers.....I don't know what the problem is exactly. I have issues that need to be talked about but she doesn't do a good job of staying on track with them and I sure can't keep it all on track!
Have you had other therapists and do you always feel the same way about them? Perhaps therapy just isn't the way for you.
Do whatever you have to, to keep your DBT, since you are benefiting from that!!!
Good luck!!! ((((((Hugs))))))
I did see another therapist, though in the expensive side, was more up front and open about the issues I wanted to work on. I reall wish i could see her again and stay in dbt.
Once you find someone that connects well with you though, that's amazing. It's achievable. You just have to keep searching as hard as that can be.
She didn't say much after that.....I don't think she knows what to do with me!
But it would be worth it if the person was a good fit for me.
Trouble is I'd have to stop going to dbt.....but like I said I'm going to call the dbt coordinator and see what he says and beg him to let me stay in the program....not THAT I am getting something out of!
