Hey everyone new to this site. Just trying to find some people to relate to. Was just diagnosed Bipolar summer of 2012. Was a little upset when my dr told me that's what he thought it was. I knew I was depressed but never felt that I was a case of bipolar based on what I had previously heard about. That doctor didn't really help much he just wrote me some scripts and sent me on my way. I was put on trileptol and lamactral(Spelling). Never really felt a difference either way. Ended up going off the lamactral because it caused me to break out in horrible rashes all of my arms and face. Have still been on the trileptol but honestly don't feel much of a difference except I cant stop eating :(.. Its been over a year now really thought I would be better. The way I described myself to the dr was I'm either really depressed or really angry. I wasn't so much concerned with the depression since I've been dealing with that for years but the anger really bothers me. Maybe the medicine is working a little bc it has seemed to curve some of my outbursts I usually have. Its just really hard to deal with because I'm 28 and i'm having such a hard time getting my life together. I'm not one to blame all my problems on any conditions I may have but it seems like everytime happiness is within my reach I somehow self sabotage and mess things up. Just wondering if this is typical with anyone else who is bipolar or if you have similar experiences or any kind of advice. I look forward to having this community of people to relate to.

welcome to the group. you may need to find a psychiatrist that will listen to you. It took me demanding help to finally find someone that would listen. once I was properly medicated I pretty much stopped the screaming at my kids and husband. I'm a calmer person now. Don't get me wrong, there are days when I still have an outburst but it takes a lot to get to that point. And my depression is less than before. I highly recommend looking for a new doctor.

Thank you angeleyes! I'm going to start looking for a new psychiatrist soon the previous one I had was paid for by my probation and I don't feel like he was the best and now that I'm off probation and getting my life back together and have my own insurance I'm going to try to find a better one. Im going to have to wait a little longer though because I'm having back surgery in November and I know it takes time to find the right doctor and build that trust with them. I'm glad you made the comment about screaming at your family bc some days that seems like all I do. I don't have a husband but I know my poor 5 year old probably thinks his mommy is off her rocker sometimes. Glad to know I'm not that only one that does that it makes me feel sooooo guilty once I calm down.
