I"m so tired of feeling disgusting and ugly. I have to take a lot of pictures of myself for school projects and I hate every second of it. it just makes me feel even worse about myself then i already do. I mean , I know self portraits are a good tool but what about the people who just dont like looking at themselves? Why can't I just take pics of someone else instead? More importantly will I ever learn to like who I am? I mean does anyone else relate to any of this crap?

Yes, my sister ( may she rot in hell) told me from er birth that I was an ugly four eyed spastic. Made me believe I was a freak and a waste of space. Took me till 27 to find out I was not ( lots of women and sex)Now I am relaxed in my body and looks, but not gorgeous only stunningly attractive.Still a few doubts but as Plato said SCREW THEM.

I definitely have issues with my self-image. I wish I did not, but I do. I find myself unattractive and it is very difficult for me to feel comfortable in pictures or anything. I am working on building my confidence though. I think that we have to like who we are and screw the rest of the world!

Yeah... SCREW THEM is right. Life goes on no matter if there is attractive or non-attractive people in the world.

With the self portrait thing, try what I did, with a black and white photo- if you're able to for the class. I always think I look more artsy in black and white.
Try different angles and facial expressions too. I take a ton of pictures before I like one. By the way when models are posing, there's hundreds of pictures taken of them before one picture is chosen. Hardly anyone can get a good one of the first shot.

I have always hated looking at photos of myself. I mean going back to elementary school I hate it. In my mind I look like Jabba the Hutt (from Star Wars). I don't think it's uncommon to be uncomfortable looking at pictures of yourself. I've seen other people do this, looked at their photos and thought, wow, they look fine. I've heard that even many models feel this way. I'll bet that there are others in your class that feel the same way.

I have never liked the way I look like but I do love a lot of things about myself. I don't know why or where it comes from, I didn't start feeling that way until around the age of 23 maybe it has something to do with comparisons from watching people on TV or something. This is a good tip I just learned from someone and it helps. Laugh instead of forcing a smile. Do a fake laugh and angle your chin up when the picture is taken, don't keep your face pointed straight at the lens - CHIN UP!

I can relate to this. I hate looking in the mirror at my body and don't like people to take pictures of me. I agree that probably a lot of people in your class feel the same way. Usually people look good though even if they don't believe it.
