I was a very sick woman when I made that decision and the act itself and I don't feel guilt that I did the act itself, my illnesses and circumstances (long-term mis-prescription by psychiatrists) had gotten me that sick.
But here's the thing, I never could have believed the mess I created for people close to me as a result of what I did. And of course, it would have been much worse if I had succeeded in the act and died.
Since that time, being that I did survive, you can imagine it has been a tough road to say the least. But because I have continued to seek out the BEST of psychiatric and psychological care, things are changing for me. I have had to advocate for myself long and hard within the mental health profession to get the best of care. And just as we always are, I have continued to be a guineau pig with medications until the right mix has been struck. But it is bearing out results.
I have struck a med mix, and continued strong psychotherapy, that is finally starting to see me get results and have hope for the future.
So, I would ask that you reconsider your thoughts about suicide due to the horrendous effects it would have on those close to you, whether or not the attempt was successful. And secondly, take it from me, there is REAL HOPE for change with doctors, psychologists and medication changes. I am as surprised as anyone about that, but it is true.
One question to ask is if you could postpone doing anything. In other words, there's no real time sensitivity to doing it now vs later. Why not wait until daylight when things may look different. If you feel like you have a compulsion to do something now, this very minute or hour, please call 911 so that they can get you treated. They'll definately get you in a position where the exhaustion and the pain will be reduced. In addition you'll get some additional coping resources. Situations are like the weather. If you don't like them . . . . just weight a bit: they're going to change. Another reason to postpone it is because the paperwork is horrendous whenever an attempt or a suicide is made. The beauty of your situation is that you can choose how and when anything happens and you're on no deadline. You can take as much time as you need to evaluate but I'd suggest doing this in a hospital setting if possible.
Email me if you want to discuss further. There are other people here to which I could refer you for some additional feedback. Until then, take a step back, some deep breaths and think about whether you could get to a hospital Taks care.
You're the mistress of your own destiny- it is most certainly NOT inevitable that you'll this world by your own hands...that's your mood talking, y'know..pessimism & all that.
Sounds like your having some type of episode, perhaps? Is your doctor aware that you have this suicidal ideation at the moment? Maybe they can make you feel better. I hope so x
Try to change your circumstances--if you can start something new, even if it seems like a wrenching change and you feel unsure, it will give you a different perspective. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's worth it.
We care about you here.

How long have you been feeling this way. Have you told your pdoc about these feelings? You should not feel ashamed of these feelings, but they are a hint to get help right away.
