Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Talk to your doc about meds.
Silly rabbit, post-partum depression affects many women, not just BPs! There are treatments available.
Do whatever you think is best.
I just had a baby. He's 3 1/2 months old and I stayed on meds during my pregnancy. I got a consult with a specialist (perinatal psychiatrist) who worked with me to educate me about the risks with my medications. With my medications, the primary risk was cleft lip or cleft palate.
I had the baby blues, maybe ppd. It does effect women other than those who have bp, but my Wellbutrin seemed to help. I also started meeting other new moms, stopped trying to breastfeed (yes, my meds are fairly safe for breastfeeding) and took time for myself. It has brought me out of that depression.
