Am I completely wrong in thinking that a widow should get some compassion and help? I have been treated so badly since just before my husband died. Some of his family members were rude to me. His son and daughter-in-law steal all the money and them some out of his and my son's bank account because my dumb husband gave them the atm card with pin. Most of my husband's family has ignored me. His other son did move some things for me. that was nice. Kim's younger brother took a couple loads of stuff to the dump. I thought he was doing it to be nice but today he called me and had me reimburse him for what the dump charged him. For crying out loud! The deceased was his brother. I know that no one is owed a live or a handout. By the way, I don't have any money, Kim's pension hasn't come through you and I sleep in closet on a recliner now.

And I hope he sputters with rage when you say that to him!!!!
He did help you out just by making the trips to the dump and disposing the stuff, but if he meant for you to pay the fee, he should have made that clear, up front.
Or maybe he just assumed that's how it would work.
I suppose your son can take the thieves to small claims court and attempt to get back the portion of money that was stolen, not given or loaned. I hope he tries.

I wasn't in a closet, though, so in that sense I had it better than you.
On the other hand, I didn't have a closet. I just had a box to keep everything I owned in.
It wasn't the 'funnest' environment I've ever lived in.
Of course you deserve compassion!!!
And some help would be nice, too.
But apparently you're barking up the wrong tree, expecting to get it from most of your in-laws.
Maybe your should think of cutting ties with all of them except for the ones who have treated you decently and have helped you.

It makes all this crap so much harder to bear!!
Surround yourself with people who are respectful of you and rid yourself of those who aren't.
I'm sorry that you have to struggle with all this at such a difficult time in your life.
