Thank God for PRN's. I'm at a barbeque and can almost feel my skin crawl. Ugh. I just want to leave. Run screaming from here. Too many drunk people...there may not be enought valium in the world. So...to take my mind off of this...tell your last forced interaction story. How do you deal?
I was ok until this guy picked up a guitar to sing...and then it got way too loud with tons of people that mumble the words. I have a problem with too loud...anywhere.
So let's here the stories...and bring your PRN's.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Not comparable with yours...not really...but I get your drift and have definitely been where you are many times.
Good that you have a good PRN! Hopefully that will kick in soon! Those have gotten me through a lot over the years for these types of functions.
Can you leave at all? As in make up a white lie and excuse yourself? Maybe say you aren't feeling well. And that's the really the truth. Do you have a "wing man"? That helps sometimes too. (((Hugs)))
Do you have to stay much longer? Other suggestions...find the bathroom and sit in there with the quiet for a few minutes. Just throwing things out there.
Oh almost left the biggest trigger on out! My son's bball games! Everyone has heard of and/or experienced over zealous parents.
Lately these unruly people have taken it to a whole new level of lunacy! I didn't know it could get any worse! In comparison I'm one of the ONLY sane ones!
So many parents I've seen who were asked to leave the gym for threatening and out of control behavior. It's absolutely ridiculous! My DH is one of the ones responsible for these tournaments and has to kick the people out.
THEN they get even madder! Angry...so damn angry...they are always furious at him. Not taking any responsibility for their own behavior.
I should take my meds to hand out to people...here's one for you...and one for you..Kidding! LOL
They're always so nice to me and want me to join them... I do so for a short period and sneak away as soon as I can...sigh.... I don't like it either... It's not much fun if you aren't a party animal and those days for me were over a long time ago....I don't like being around drunk much at all
I used to be able to take valium, but they tend to take those things away when you try to overdose on them.
Now, I'm in search of an anti-anxiety med that will work on the spot. I take Gabapentin to lower my baseline, but there's nothing like that quick shot to calm things down so you can cope the rest of the way.
I really feel for you. And know that you are not alone. It doesn't help in the moment, but may help as you climb down off that pillar of anxiety.
