Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
For me, lithium is a godsend. Even though I got on and off of it during the years, being "manic"....
When I was Down, it brought me up. When I was Up, it brought me down some. Basically, it levels me, when I am therapeutic.
You may have to watch for mild weight gain, and drink more water than before. (weight gain isn't an issue for me on lithium, it works the Opposite. But with many people, it is an issue)
:):)
Hi how are you today?
Welcome to the bipolar group at DS. I've never tried lithium, but I've heard you have to drink a lot when on it. Good luck, I hope it works for you.
Have a great day.
Sincerely
Am613
actually my need to drink has lessened since i started taking lithium. I guess cuz i used to drink beer in the evenings to relax.. to control the anxiety.. and the meds seem to be helping with that. I never even liked the taste of beer! lol
but yes i do find myself being thirstier.. and i am just now on the one a day.. tomorrow it goes to 2 a day, then 3 a day. i guess at that point i will feel the full effect.
It makes you forget capital cities.
So in order to avoid this just don't bother learning capital cities.
Lima...Lima is Peru's I think..
Try to give the meds time to work without the alcohol. It really can work wonders.
Sorry dont mean to be preachy. Its because once I quit drinking the meds really kicked in. Ive been pretty good for 15 yrs. A couple of bumps but nothing too bad.
Its a good group here.
Best of luck to you.
Geez, good luck kluvswt!
