My first few days were a bit rough with nausea, diarrhea, dizziness,and spending most of the first 2-3 days in bed. Then I did some research found out I wasn't drinking enough fluids, and I wasn't eating when or right around the time I took each dose. Once I made a few small changes the side effects went away. I'm still severely depressed and low energy but it hasn't been a week yet.

i love lithium i've been taking it for years .... at first i had a funny taste in my mouth no matter what i ate but that went away .... was kinda sick to my stomach in the mornings after taking it at night but found out i had to eat when i took my pills ... drink lots of water..... got acne but went to the dermatologist and got that taken care of .... otherwise its been really good to me

Lithium has saved my life, it rided evil,depression,anxiety and obsessive compulsive, yes it does have side affects although it out wayed the life i was living, i now love life after 2 years of physco-therapy and live a normal life, I was desperate and tried for years i wouldnt change things now. Good luck its worth considering.

Lithium works well for some people. It is an older method for mood stabilization. Personally, I could not tolerate the side effects. I also have a close friend who is on thyroid medicine now because of lithium. Also, watch your kidney function too. Good luck!

i had some stomach issues to start with, but the biggest problem is that I have a near-constant tremor that's bad enough that people occassionally comment on it.

I thank God for Lithium, it stabilized me. I take 900 mg. Drink plenty of water because it is processed thru the kidneys and can be hard on them. I have a slight tremor, but propanolol helps. I drink a couple quarts of water a day. Other than the very, very slight tremor, I have had no side effects.

i take 600mgs of lithium. i've been on it for 3 months. i'm not convinced of it yet. i feel like it makes me too passive.

I have been on Lithium since September and my symptoms have done a total 180. I feel so much better and can actually hold down a job now. I didn't notice many side effects from it, but you do have to stay hydrated.

I love Lithium! I have a healthy, happy life now. Yes there are side effects, but I can handle that. Good luck!

I was on 300mg 2x day, now my pdoc doubled my dose, we'll see how this goes!

I have been on lithium for 4 years now and I am starting to ween off because of toxicity. Make sure to get your blood work done every six months! My Pdoc kept upping my levels when ever I had the slightest complaint and never wrote me a prescription for blood work (highly unethical, looking for new Dr. now) I saw my GP for something else and he noticed how shaky I was and that I had lost the rosy color in my skin. He wrote me a script for blood work and what do you know! So I'm slowly weening (under GP orders) and feeling better.
Make sure you have a good Pdoc, some of them don't give two cents about you or are just pill pushers. Also get ready to gain some weight. I put on 25lbs.

2100mg a day is my cornerstone for my other meds. I have taken it since '02 and never even got a tremor. Very thirsty all of the time, though. I just keep a drink with me. I have to eat when I take it too, or it tears up my tummy. Hope this helps.

I have a number of side effects and I'm uncertain which, if any, are caused by Lithium. Well, except for the shaking that is. I'm at a little lower dose now so its not much of a problem. I can say, however, that it made a tremendous difference in my moods. I have completed my college education and until very recently I was employed full-time in a professional job.
