Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I think if the side effects are really bothering you, then talk to ur pdoc about some other meds. I know how scary that is since they're working so well for you....but you never know, you may do really well on some other meds too.
Good luck
If it's working....don't mess with it.
Drink lots of water....stay in the shade
Personally I hate med changes.and unless they give me horrible side effects, I would rather deal with a few annoying side effects than starting all over again to find something that works
Lithium works by going in and out of your system - not drinking or peeing, well - can be toxic!
Much love and respect - work with the Lithium, not against it! Peeing is GOOD, not bad : ) on any med, come to think of it!!!
I don't know anything about the other drug - but it can't be worse then Heat flashes due to INSTANT MENOPAUSE after a emergency hysterectomy!!!
But I"m willing to take another pill - to stop those too!!!
Maybe play or try something other than saphris - but the lithium if it works for you - FANTASTIC!!!! Oldie but a goodie : ) Cheap too!!!
I think I'd 'explore' the possibility of trying other medication(s) with your Pdoc and see if that helps you be more sure about whatever it is that you decide to do.
If it was me, I think I'd want to try something else -- IF I liked what the Pdoc had to say about it!!!
But I'd be ready to hop right back to your current cocktail, as soon as it became clear that it works better than the new one(s)!!!
One thing I think I would be against doing is adding on more meds along with your current ones, just to treat the side effects!!
(I'm trying to whittle down the number of meds I'm taking!)
Good luck!!!!
I'm glad things are good and I hope they get even better!!!!
(((((Hugs)))))
It doesn't make sense to change meds that work that well for you unless the side affects are unbearable.
The Wolf .
After the first year or so, I didn't have any side effects including going to the bathroom often. Still on it, it's been 29 years.
