Well I'm trying to find something to do tomorrow and everyone is busy ..I just finished my semester (woohoo!) And finally get to relax. There is some glass painting i need to start on...but I'm nervous about my hb going for training. I could go with him but i told him no to save money and also so i can know my birds, dogs, cats, rabbit, fish, and chickens are fed and ok. We don't have central heat so I'm not leaving heaters on and leaving ugh. I'm afraid I will get paranoid and freak...I've had weird stuff happen to me when my hb worked nights. My mom n law said she'd come stay but i think I'd rather be alone and just face the fears. Im not sure...maybe i should see if she'd come over but i feel like i need to get over this fear i have at night...isn't part of getting over your fears facing them head on or is it more harm than good? If I do have PTSD is it harmful to put myself in a frightful position?

I loved to spend time by myself in the past...watching whatever I wanted on tv, taking time for me. I'd love to do that again.

Facing a fear is good, but maybe having your mom in law to be like "on call" in case you need her is a good idea. What does your therapist say? When I first started facing my fears with my PTSD on my own, this is what my therapist had me do, was have someone "on call" and where your mom in law has already offered to come over, this is why I suggested it.

I'm trying to get in to see a therapist. I haven't been dx with PTSD but know I have the symptoms. That is a good idea to have her on call. Just not sure I could reach her after a certain time...

well honey PTSD or not, this is a fear of yours....so, just from my experience is what I am speaking, talk to her and see what she says okay? or if you have another friend that you trust or that maybe do that way as a back up plan if you can't get her. Or another thought is see if you can go there if you are unable to reach her.

I like SillyAnn's idea. Maybe you could also keep some lights on so the house isn't so dark or leave a TV play so you have background noise. When my husband travels I have to have the TV on. When I travel it is the same thing plus a light.

I hope your MIL is available to be "on call." If she lives close by it shouldn't take her long to get there. I hope your hubby isn't gone too long.

I say try your best to face the fear, but also agree with SillyAnn have your mom in law on call.

For me, it would really depend on how long he's going to be gone. If it's just a night or two at the most, I'd keep MIL on standby, and try some of the tricks others mentioned. I've done this and it helps. If it's longer though, I would have someone stay over if possible. Desensitization therapies start small and slowly allow you to adjust to your fears.

I was left alone for the entire month of Nov,
My sister went on an extended Holiday ( we share a house together)

It was the first time in years I had been alone, for any length of time .

It was sort of a test for me...how was I going to cope?

I did very well, and it was a lesson learned, I can be by myself and not freak out
