For me Halloween means the start of the Holiday Season, rolling on through Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years... and I dread this time of year. I have no family and I live alone. The happiness and celebrations all around me make me feel more lonely than any other time of year, and my depression worsens. I really struggle, looking forward to mid-January when it all calms down. Anyone else feel this way?

I don't. I love the holidays, starting with Thanksgiving. New Years kinda brings me down a little bit, but I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am sorry you are alone/lonely. Perhaps get out and make some friends. I have some friends who are closer to me than my own family. There are good people out there. You just have to find them. Best to you. Hugs!!

Thank you Zany - I do have a few friends and maybe this year will not be as bad. I just started on meds about 3 months ago and I may be able to enjoy the season more than in years past. I worry that I bring people down around me, and it's especially noticeable during the holidays. But this year might be a bit better. Hugs to you!

I enjoy the holiday season too. I am blessed to not spend it alone...i did experince that after my divorce.....i was alone on thanksgiving and christmas ...it was awful..and i was unmedicated due to not being able to afford meds..so that made it worse.

Im sorry also that you are alone/lonely. I agree with Chelle...i have friends that have been stronger than family ties(my growing/parental family)

Thank you for understanding Cages, living alone (at any time of the year) is not fun for me, it's the thing I am saddest about. But I have to think being on meds will make this year easier. It has to.

I love this time of year.... Its all about giving... The more I give the more I get back. I use to volunteer at a soup kitchin in denver. I miss doing that. You have alot you can give. Give it a try... .Or not....

After being in Retail for many many years I still hate the Holidays. Too busy and made me have a breakdown.
I thought it would get easier now that I am out of that problem but hubby is still working there.
Money is needed here since I am not to work at all.
I tried many jobs after and thought i could handle them Wrong there.
I take Halloween to be the best of the lot, not too bad when it comes to being out handing treats.
also no relatives!!!
