I have always thought that my Bipolar was all I was, and now I know that I am only myself and not an illness.I am hurt when others around me say that I am different because of my illness and use that to hurt me. Does anyone else feel this way??

I understand exactly what you mean. It really hurts when people define you as your illness. It doesn't feel good when people only see you as your illness, not as a living, breathing person with feelings.

i can relate.
in our class; mental illness is being described and when the teacher brought up bipolar; every one seemed to turn to me.
don't let anyone bring you down; it's hard but you are so much more than 'bipolar.'

Yes stigma can be very painful and rejection from 'normals' can hurt. All we can do is hold our head high and do our best.
