Bipolar Disorder - Teen Support Group
This community is dedicated to teenagers struggling with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. Talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, and learn from others' experiences
There are just so many options, tech schools, certification programs, 2 yr degrees, 4 yr degrees, career training programs, all kinds of things you can do. If I were you, I would try waiting for a day you're feeling pretty calm, reasonable, and confident and then start researching and writing down ideas!
Don't stress on the part about not managing well, yes it's difficult, I didn't make it past my first sememster, but now that I've gotten some more experience and my meds tweaked, I'm definintly going back! There are a lot of people who don't even try to go to school or further themselves like that so just giving it a shot is seriously awesome, and I wish you the absolute best of luck!
Ok well crap I'm getting kinda frenzied and my thoughts are running pretty jumbled right now so I got to stop typing but please message me if you want to talk about college, future, whatever some more. Hugs!!
I am at university right now, leaving a dark past behind me, yet still carrying my bipolar diagnosis in my back pocket.
You have every right to be nervous and scared; it is a BIG change. But independency is not that bad. Of course it can be frightening to feel "alone" at first, but you WILL adjust. You will ALWAYS have support wherever you go and you will learn (not the hard way, i promise) to be able to handle your demons on your own. And if you have trouble, there are plenty of resources here to help you. I have used counseling services after really bad episodes. It's amazing.
My advice is to jump in with both feet. Don't let anything hold you back and do this for YOU, not for your parents or their money. i am sure you will surprise yourself in the best of ways.
