Bipolar and PMS or PMDD

dose any one find that PMS is emotinaly a problom (severely) with me i had major cramps but that wasent as big a problom as the extream mood swings. I get violently angry. then wailing sad. then very giddy. I dont know if its the bipolar or if i might have PMDD. im not even sure what that stands for. dose this sound familiar?

PMDD stands fro pre menstrual dysphoric disorder and yes it sounds very familiar. Out of the 6 times I have been hospitalized 5 of them have been right before my period. I have not had an official diagnosis of PMDD and the doctors have not officially said if it is part of my bi polar or not. I just know it gets noticeably worse around that time for me. I would suggest asking specific questions and try and figure it out with your doctor. That is one thing I never did

dose PMDD have to do with cramps too?
ive never been hospitalized but most months i cant go to school - im too emotional. i was on a drug that worked fine till my period then mega cramps and to depressed to get out of bed.

im on Zoloft now it has helped a lot. we had to go down because it was giving me "bad" thoughts. i feel grate its PMS time and almost no mood differences even with second semester tomorrow.

i have bipolar disorder and i was told that i also have PMDD after explaining my symptoms...
i have know exactly what your going through and i can totally relate...
i still havent figured it out myself yet!
my advice is tell your doctor and explain that it is more that a normal PMS-ing.
how old are you? are you missing school to when i happens?

Hi. I'm not a teen but have a 14-year-old teen with severe bipolar and PMS with severe cramps. I also have the same. Both of us take birth control pills to help with this. It has made a big difference for us both. My daughter used to miss school every month because of it. Now her cramps are much less and the mood swings are less.
