ok first i know this might not be the right place for me to post but iam lost, my daughter will be 13 in 10 days her doctors are all leaning towards bipolar as her diagnosis, she does have aspbergers, but wont dx her officially due to her age, my question, she takes abilify and her md put her on generic trileptal, last week he increased her from 150 mg twice daily to 150 once daily and 300 mg another dose, seh has been very agitated and very mean, waiting for her dr to call back in my line of work i found out it might be a med overload at one time, cause it but wondered if anyone experience anything like this with thie medication as a teen preteen

I've had problems with meds like that. I was doing fine on 100mg of welbutrin but when they put me on 150, I had bad reactions. It made me agitated and anxious. I had racing heart and it felt like I was having a panic attack all the time. When meds get straightened out again, things usually subside.

Personally, I did NOT like Abilify. It increased my mania. If she's unhappy, wean her off it slowly and try something else.

100 mg of abilify? Did I read that correct? I have always found that my meds have to be balanced very well... too much causes lots of problems (like u described as well as described in other comments) I only take 5mg of abilify any more and I get bad reactions.
. I was on resperdone but when my parents decided to increase the dosage I got odd neurological symptoms ( like when ur arm falls asleep or the feeling of being poked) so I switched. Now that I'm a little older my parents let me have more of a say... so I can keep my meds at a comfortable dose.. my theory is the person taking the Med knows how it makes them feel... listen to her... and be her voice to the doc.. she is most likely scared as well.. let her know u want the best for her.. try to find a compromise that makes EVERYONE happy... but most importantly ur little one... and don't be afraid to get a second, third, fourth, etc opinion

Ability sounds dangerous ;( did you discuss risperdal ? Not the best either but my sons pediatrician and psychiatrist recommends that first? It helped my son tremendously almost instant. 2 days and he was laughing and being sweet again. Ask about it

risperdone is generic Risperdal... I loved Risperdal. but my parents felt it could do more. so after the 3rd failed increase I insisted we try something else... I took Risperdal from 1st grade till 10th... when you start it can make you tired.... bit that will where off... Risperdal is an older medication compared to abilify ... both Risperdal and abilify are in the same "family" and do almost the same thing...

MEDICATION EFECTS EVERYONE DIFRENTLY.. DONT BE AFRADE TO ASK ?S AND GET A SECOND OPINION....

MOST IMPORTENTLY LISTEN TO YOUR DAUGHTER...

I would suggest that you talk to your daughters doctor about trying Depakote to control her mood swings it is less harmful and from personal experience it is way more effective than most other meds.
