Glad you are ok to ride! I rode in the late fall after my broken wrist, but I have been having bad RA flares, and it is hard to ride consistently, even in the basement.

Well, praying you stay a bit safer this time on the roads and trails, fishboy!

Josee: They are yes TIGHTS, Medium and Light weight.(Never thought I would consider wearing tights for ANYTHING)lol. A winter jersey, (Good quality),A Gor-tex shell(jacket) that breaks the wind. Under all a medium or light merino wool base layer. Then wool riding socks with riding shoe. Either a toe cove or bootie (REALLY,BOOTIE?) to keep the wind out of the shoe and the warmth in the shoe. Once you get it down to a science it is really fun to winter ride!

Another benefit is during the cold weather only the hardcore bikers are out and the kids are not running out in front of you! You can Haul Butt too. Thinking about starting to commute to work now also.

The layers sound great. I wore thermals and yes tights and, a light flannel pant, a sweat pant, and a heavier denim, and if really cold beyond that, zipper shell pants. Tee shirt, long sleeve shirt, light jacket/sweater, hoodie, zippered winter vest, outer shell. Wool is out because of allergies. Feet, with the tights a thinner sock with heavier sock over that. and insulated shoe boots. A hat on under a hoodie and a neck scarf to wrap around the head, sunglasses to ward off eye chill.
Winter riding once you are layered and warm is fun, less people, where I live it gets cold but not much snow so not much of a worry with that. I commuted to work, shopping and dr's appt in the winter up until a few years ago, I ride the bus now.
Stay on the path fishboy! No dummy, it's just the path moved, right?

Too bad about the wool allergy. You could accomplish the same effect with a mid-weight tight and a mid to heavy-weight woolie! Merino wool is incredible stuff. It is SOOOO warm and yet light at the same time. It ain't cheap though! I guess I have about $450 tied up in 2 winter kits. This stuff is top quality and I got it for less than 50%,so it's all good. Best part is I won't need to replace it for years! It is worth it though to be able to ride in the bad weather. Have found biking to be a Very expensive sport!

I wish I could say the path moved but I can't even get away with that! LOL Another 6 months or so before I can ride the Mountain bike so should be safe till then!

I have worn clothing with a thermal insulate. A woolie, the Merino wool is like original wool when it comes to allergies? You're right-the good stuff costs. I've worn down outer shells, there is a lot out there on choices. The main thing for me is close layers, no flaps out, everything fitted or tucked in, that makes a huge difference in the wind chill. I wear a thin glove under a thinsulate thermal glove, it's not bulky and lightweight, easy to grip.
Stay safe, for sure the 6 months will guarantee that lol

It's been so warm in my are people are out riding in tee shirts! Crazy, it's been in the 60's. We do get snow but the last few years has been unusually warm, and still I'm not riding as much. I got out of the groove and habit, sometimes I just got to get back to it and just do it, other times in the past I couldn't wait to ride. I'm going to ride around my neighborhood a little to get back into it, this summer I'm thinking of getting an umbrella for my three wheeler, because it rides slow and it can get hot.
