Hi folks! I am glad to be here.I am a 57yo biker and am/was kicking butt! I have been cycling serously for about a year. This started after completeing TX for hep-c. Have recovered to the point of 30-70 miles at a clip and loving it! I ride mountain and road bikes.Currently have a Cannondale F29-AL1 lefty mountainbike, and a Cervelo S5 roadie. Was planning a 300+mile ride this fall but crashed on the cannondale and fractured the L1 and compressed the T12 vertebrea. Also fractured the tailbone(OUCH). Am currently off the bikes and it is makin me crazy! The Cdale held up a lot better than I did in the crash so that's a positive. Should be able to get on the roadie in a few weeks but mtb not so much! All in all could have been much worse!! Second question to the doc was Will I still be able to ride? Have become a bike GEEK! Even the spandex and manf jerseys!
I also am an avid fisherman and a christian family man.
Am truly happy Marlene invited me to this group! Love to talk bikes!
Thanks
Bill

I've been on high dose prednisone for pneumonia, and now I am slowly weaning. But lots of symptoms I don't like having, plus overeating has put at least 10 lbs on me. The food is "loud" as the GLP-1 users refer to it.Also pressured speech. Which comes out in my posts. Sorry I posted so much. I just need an outlet for my agitated and irritable brain. Just scroll on by my posts, if they are too...

I haven't been around in a long time. I am admin in a private group, and I would like to upgrade someone else to that position. I thought I knew how to do that, but the prompt has gone missing. Or is it not allowed to upgrade someone else to admin? I just find "ban and demote" under "Edit." I don't get notifications to DS anymore, but I wil come back in a few days to find out the answer. There...
I am more of apart of the "slow bicycle movement" I ride slow and just around my neighborhood but enjoy hearing about all types of bicycle riders and their experience.
Welcome to the group.
Thanks for the welcome! I am out for the fun of it and to keep in shape. I rode for the first time since I crashed 2 months ago on sat. Went pretty good. Only real problem I had was the back brace, it squeezes the air out of me so was a little hard to get the air I needed!LOL Still was good though!

I have not been out on my bike since Aug. 17 when I got thrown into a ditch off my bike going 20 kph and broke my wrist badly. I have ridden a few times in the basement, and lately, I have been walking outdoors for an hour, finding new muscles! I call it cross training, but really it is a frustrated cyclist walking! Today I thought maybe I should wear my biking clothes, and helmet, so at least the other bikers would know that I would rather be riding than walking.
PS. Walking is super hard because of the feet deformities I have!
Keep in shape, and I hope you will post some rides when you are better!. Biking is so much fun, but very dangerous I think!
Sorry I haven't been around the forum!
May start to do my commute to work on the bike. It is only about 4.5 miles so no big! Would only do the fairly nice days. I believe it would help me to clear the brainpan before the work day and before the home time.
Marlene I hope you are starting to recover faster. I know how it feels sometimes. It's like you get to a certain point and it just seems to stop there for a while. Was going through that with my back. It seems to have gotten better than it was in the last week or so. In the mean time keep up the walking and stay in shape! Will keep you in my prayers.

PS: Doc said I could try the bike without the brace! Also said don't even think about the mountain bike!LOL
I did a new post, and started a new bike log, more or less. I don't know how much riding time I will get in, because snow is probably going to come quite soon!
