Beyond Medication Community Group
In this group we will be looking at alternative or supplementary methods of dealing with every day stressors and anxiety. This is for people who do not want to feel as though they do not want to be tied to the medicine cabinet. We will be using such techniques as mindfulness, meditation, grounding, guided imagery, Yoga and other behavioral and self-discipline techniques...

This is a grounding exercise that I have shared both on the main BP board and with a member individually, I am sharing it again here as there are some who may not have seen it.
I use this grounding exercise 4 or 5 times a week to start my days, it always leaves me feeling connected, energized, and really to attack my day. It was also in part the inspiration for this group.
The easiest grounding technique I can teach is one you can do everyday to start your day.
It nice if you have a large, strong rooted tree that you be by but it is not essential. Find a nice quiet place outdoors where you will not be disturbed. Once you are out side and in your quiet place it is best to preform the rest of the meditation barefoot so that you can be in close contact with the earth, of course this is more difficult during colder months but then you can wear shoes.
After you are outside and your ready begin taking several deep cleansing breath, release all thoughts and trying to clear your mind of all worries and troubles. Think about why your there about being centred and grounded. If you have a tree there reach out and put both hands on the tree, concentrate on the tree how it feels, how strong and steady it is. Feel the life energy of the tree, feel it surge throw the tree, now feel that energy as it flows through the tree and into your arms and threw your body. Let that energy flow through your body, down your legs and back into the earth through your feet. Do this until you feel as though you have all the energy that you need and until you feel completely grounded. When you have your fill before taking your hands from the tree, don't forget to say thank you to the tree for sharing it's energy with you, and thank the earth for being your strength and ground.
You can do the same thing even if you don't have a tree by squatting down and placing the palms of your hands directly on the ground and drawing the energy through your arms down your body and back out your feet. It's just easier if you have a tree cause you can do it standing. But I want to emphasis that it is imperative that whether you use the tree or not, you should always say thank you. It's only respectful.
Hope you find this helpful

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
"so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." Eph. 3:17-19
I wonder if we could stand by the tree, and connect with the love of God. I know God loves us and his creation. I am going to try this, when I am able to walk again. Even the mental image is very moving!
Research by electrophysiologists and other medical experts suggest earth's electrical energy may help protect and stabilize our own body's electrical system, recharging, and replenishing and healing us. Electrons boosts our immune system.
Inflammation in our bodies has been more prevalent in our society not just because of lack of nutrition, but also loosing contact with the earth. Walking barefoot or sit in a chair, feet on the ground for 30 minutes a day. I like to walk on grass early in the mornings when its wet. Hugs
