When I see someone that has a striking resembelance to my fiancee, dad or others that have passed... (only has happened a few times) I look and STARE, I have to intentionally not make it look so obvious. It's amazing that I "get to look and instantly recall memories"... those kind of people give me comfort in a way, everybody comes into your life for a reason... as season or a lifetime. It's not a mistake that you're seeing another person that resembles them. Embrace it.
The first time it happened it was "FREAKY" I was walking down a wooden sidewalk tourist district... (all the shops were getting ready to close so not many people were around.) I walked past a man that looked identical to my grandpa. I didn't walk but 2-3 feet past, I turned around to get a second glance and to go and talk to him. "I was going to say; you look so much like my grandpa". He was gone, as in disappeared... There was NOBODY around, the streets were bare, the gift shop he was sitting outside of didn't have anybody in it. It was like as if he was a ghost, there would have been no where for him to go... in that short of a period, he vanished! Prior to that he was the furthest person from my mind as my grandpa had passed away over 10 years prior to that. I took it as a "sign"...
Something simular happened when I had my stroke... the day before both my fiancee and my dad came to me in a vision. It was the first time that had ever happened in my entire life, it was the most bizarre situation. It drove me crazy and was the only thing that took up my thoughts! 24 hours later, to the minute is when I had my stroke. When I sat in the ambulance, it all came together... it made sense, I took it as a message that "everything was going to be ok".
I hope in the future that you find peace... it's a long proces but hopefully you'll be able to see that they are looking out after you.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I understand how you must feel. I lost my dad 14 years ago to cancer and still miss him every day! Last month I lost my 28 year old son and all the grief from missing my dad came back along with the grief from the loss of my son. The only thing that has helped me is time (for my dad). It doesn't stop me from missing him and wanting to talk to him, but it has allowed me to focus more on all the good times we had together. One of the first things I felt with the shock of my sons death was that my dad was looking out for him. I miss them both more than words can say, but I must keep going for the others in my life - even though I don't want to! Hang in there.
All I can say is that you will never forget your Dad, and the wonderful person he made you into, if you would like to chat more, just send me a message as I could go on forever but dont want to bore you right now!
Take care, thinking of you xxx
