I agree. You will never get over the grief of losing your loved ones, but to me there is no death of an immortal soul. Death is the transition from the physical life to a spiritual life, which would be more vibrant than ever. What not to say your loved ones are by your side now, to guide, love and protect you, but you with your human eyes cannot see. The soul is immortal that defies death, that no corruption can defile. If you can understand that reality, then death is no longer fearful. One day, we shall be united with our loved ones in the nether world.

To Andromeda8 and Scott46: Any spiritual experiences? "Near Death" experiences? Deep faith in a higher power requires no such experience, but your firmness just suggested something more.

Hi happyparkers, before my father's passing, I believed in God due to my faith but I did not think I was worthy enough to experience the divine presence. Upon and after my father's death, I am compelled to accept that there is an afterlife on the basis of my spiritual experiences, on grounds of what I had seen and heard. I believe there is another parallel plane of existence unseen to our human eyes, where our loved ones inhabit. I believe that love is the connection between us and our loved ones that death cannot destroy. I believe that love creates the inseverable bond between us and those who have passed on, that our loved ones look over us to guide, love and protect. My father is still with me and my mother, in a spiritual form, to comfort, love and protect as he had done whilst alive. The soul is immortal, and does not rely on a physical shell to maintain existence. Death is not the end, but the gateway to a spiritual life.

It is comforting to read your heartfelt words so aligned with my own and with the words of millions of others just like us. I have always said that death is an inevitable part of life, but fear of death as being the end of life could why not instead be the beginning of spiritual life? We all experience life. Most believe as a creation of God. Then why any hesitation to believe in spiritual life with God after our death? And further, why such trepidation to acknowledge spiritual encounters with loved ones who have passed on? Those of us like me receive great strength and hope from spiritual encounters.

Non-believers dismiss spiritual encounters as simply unexplained coincidences. These are the same people that believe life evolved from an amoeba and that the universe is explained by the Big Bang theory. Next time a non-believer looks down their nose at you, ask them where did the amoeba came from in the first place? And as to their Big Bang theory of the universe, ask them where did the Big Ball come from? Their answer: silence.

HI SBBTTYS, thank you so much for sharing the lyrics to the song. You have kept your faith in the Lord, and one day you will be reunited with your wife in Paradise. Life is tough, but if we keep our soul calm and serene like the still water of a pond, we will be impartial to the stress, pressure, cruelty, fear and disappointment that constitute life. I can imagine the joy you will experience on reunion with your loved ones, to live in the house of the Lord.

I remember the Law of Conservation of Mass, discovered by Antoine Lavoisier which states: "matter is neither created nor destroyed." Julius Robert Mayer who discovered the Law of Conservation of Energy (the First Law of Thermodynamics), had found that "energy is neither created nor destroyed." Albert Einstein merged the above two laws together to create the Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy which states: "the total amount of mass and energy in the universe is constant", otherwise known as E = mc(squared). What the three geniuses had discovered that a mass upon disintegration is converted into energy, since matter is neither created nor destroyed. This means that upon death, we shed our physical vessel to unleash our soul which exists in a form of energy (hence the "spirit"). The soul is immortal that neither death nor disease can destroy or defile. Thus we shall meet our loved ones once more in the kingdom of the Lord.

Coincidentally, words almost identical to those of SBBTTYS original posting. And further, her last written words to me were "Keep me safe in your heart", just like your words, "tucked safely in your heart". Not surprising that your posting immediately grabbed my attention. I had just joined the DS site a few days earlier.

It's been over two years now, and I am still crushed by her loss. I receive strength and hope from our memories together and my spiritual encounters with her, but then there are those never-ending body blows. Our song suddenly on the radio. The empty chair only at my table. I relate so much to the words of faith and spirituality expressed by each of you. I am thankful to have a place of refuge to go when I need support.

Hi Happyparkers, your wife is always with you and looking out for you. She is by your side and waiting for the day when both of you are reunited, so that both can ascend heaven together. I can imagine the joy of both at upon reunion.
