I want to thank everyone who has been my friend on this site since 2008 or 2009.YOu are very dear friends of mine and my only regret is that I do not know all of you personally.But right now I am going thru a trial of my own doing and i have to share it.Grief kills and for years and evern with therapy I have tried..but i have failed to come to gribs with the terms of Brads and my beloved brothers death.Ever since my brother died,I have been gambling.I have been gambling up a storm and this is the reason why i lost mym home.You see I gambled away the rent money at a casino and then I realized just how ill I am.Gambling is a disease and i hope that all of you do not hate or condemn me.I am asking for prayers and if I have offended anyone I am asking your forgiveness.Gambling has made my life miserable and this is the reason why I was always broke.It is an expensive hobby.Now I realize that I am compulisve and this should not be.My brother was sick and he did not feel well and he wanted to die and join the dolphins like he said.Frank..i hope you will see the dolphins now and I hope everyone who is so consumed with grief like I have been get help.I am getting help now.I am going to Gamblers Anoymous.It is a 12 step program.This is my 1st step and I am going to try to give everyone a tad of nice advice and be nicer because the people from Brooklyn can be really cruel and I am everyone at Daily Strength to pray for me that I get my home and mind back.I am going to a meeting now and so I will close to all of my friends....Take care and please do not ever go into a
casino and gamble your life away because of some idiiot like I did and remember life changes and so do you.I love you all,,,,vader.

Grief is a hard thing to overcome. Don't be so hard on yourself, you are coping the only way you know how, maybe not the best way as you are discovering. Good for you to recognize it is a problem and seek the help necessary. Be strong, you are not an idiot, just a human being trying to deal with to very significant losses. Hug and prayers coming your way.

iwant to thank you for your reply and it has been very hard on me as of now and I do realize that I have got a big problem and I am trying to correct it and I am still trying to cope with these losses.Thanks for your hugh and prayers.

No doubt, for every problem there can be a life learning lesson. I so wish you all the strength and positive drive to a healing of major proportions. Never judgmental, just healing hope and faith. You've already shown a mind of great clarity. Much success, peace and comfort.

It's difficult to sympathize...I occasionally drop $20 here and there on scratch-off tickets to the Florida lottery, but I never gamble any more than I can afford to lose. Plus pulling a lever on a slot machine like a trained monkey or blowing my entire wad at a craps table, roulette wheel or other useless endeavor only to see my hard-earned money disappear has no appeal for me...

If it's any consolation, a lot of "senior citizens" choose to blow their money at the casinos. You've probably seen several in your travels there. You're in good company. Why? Masking the pain? Passing the sheer boredom of existence?

There are other ways of escaping pain and boredom and distracting yourself from dreary reality, like going to the movies, that are a lot less expensive than gambling! Please get rid of this useless "entertainment" passtime.

Yes, gambling is a disease....an addiction. Good for you for recognizing it and going to GA. Stay strong. I will keep you in my
prayers for strength to win this battle.

to all thanks for your reply.I start my 12 step program tomorrow which is Wednesday and tonight is the meeting.Gambling is a very serious addiction and i was addicted to the scratch tickets here.I am a senior and have got a lot of time and frankly I got into it because of boredom.Now I am learning to do other things and one of them is going to be volunteering and I will try to help others now.Thanks to all you are a fantastic group.....once again thanks...........
