today makes 26 months since the fatal car wreck which took my beloved son and his wife from us, leaving 3 young orphans in the care of my hubby and myself. we, both together and individually, have managed our grief by leaning ever so gently into the pain. it hurts that mommy and daddy are not physically here, but we are grateful for their ongoing contributions to our lives. to be honest, i'm still faking it till i make it on the latter. i still rage on occassion. HOW DARE YOU LEAVE US WITH THIS BURDEN!?!?!?!?
this morning, as i made the rounds to check on the children, currently ages 8, 5 and 2, each of the children had smiles twitching from their cheeks. i felt like the twitches were generating on gentle, loving kisses from mommy and daddy. i thought i saw shimmers above each child administering those kisses.
writing this out has brought a torrent of tears and doubt. am i losing it? have i boarded the crazy train?
stepping small, praying big and holding the love sacred. . .
how dare i call this a burden? ? ?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

i will hold you in my thoughts
i will take you to my dreams
i will touch you when you come into view
while the winter's winning i will watch your children grow
and feel you right next to me
I'm happy for you to have felt love from mommy and daddy today while cherishing your beloved grandchildren.... However it's a lot sweetie to bring up three young children..... I don't know that I could do what you have stepped up and done
I think you're a courageous and an amazing Grandma..... Another hug and a blessing.... xo
i miss being a grandma. this is not the same thing and on top of being painfully inaccurate, the grand stereotypes are a painful reminder of just how much all of us have lost with the funeral of the middle generation.
