In memory of my baby, I have 5 blue butterflies tattooed on my right shoulder. I got 5 because he was 5 weeks old when he passed, it was 5 years since he passed and he would be 5 years old, and also he passed away on the 5th September. 5 is very significant to me
He did not "pass away", he went back to the arms of God, who created him. And one day, when your name is called, you will see him.
I too have a tattoo in honor of my brother. However, I gained a bit of weight and can no longer see it (blushing a bit). I had a dove with it's wings over it's head that forms a heart with a single rose in the center of the heart. My brothers name is over the tattoo :)
My mom was attending a grief group for parents that had lost a child when she lived in Arkansas. They had officially made "butterflies" a national symbol last year for parents who lost child(ren). I think it's beautiful and hope it catches on.
Mom and I are starting a grief group for parent who have lost child(ren) up here where I live. Our first meeting is September 6th. I am going to be passing out butterflies to hopefully bring comfort and to pass on the symbol.
