Long story and sorry if it gets rambly but I still live at home at the moment as due to the nature of my work I don't have guaranteed hours each week so I'm not in the best financial situation to move out, my auntie lives next door to us.
The Sunday after my boyfriend passed away I was in my room writing him a letter to put in with him as I'd just been to visit him in the funeral and decided I wanted him to write him a letter, that night I was in my room in silence writing this letter when I heard shouting from next door, my aunties, I heard her partner shout out 'Don't say anything til after the funeral, they're going through enough'. Basically what had happened was he was in their shed (which was is more like a little house than a shed) supposedly playing darts with one of our cousins (kate) who is married with three kids. My younger cousin, my auntie's daughter and her boyfriend went into the shed as kates daughter had text to ask where she was so they went to tell her they were looking for her, when they got to the shed they found my aunties partner with his pants down and her lying on the floor with her dress up. Now he has cheated on my auntie before and she took him back but this time she chucked him out and told him to get lost. Slowly we've noticed him visiting more and slowly creeping back in and apparently now they are back together. My cousin isn't happy about it at all and she now wants to move out.
I know its my aunties choice and I can't say anything but I can't even stand to look at him but obviously now I will have to see him. He was always horrible to her when they were together, calling her a fat s**g and all other horrible names for no reason and always putting her down so I honestly don't understand why she would anyway. Matt only met him a few times and said he didn't like him and it took a lot for him to say he didn't like someone. It just knocks me sick and angers me so much that he tried to use Matt's death to his advantage by using it as an excuse to try cover it up. If Matt wasn't brought into it I wouldn't care, I'd think my auntie was a mug for taking him back again but I wouldn't be so bothered by it. For weeks after he basically called my cousin and her boyfriend a liar and also tried to call me a liar asking how I could have heard him saying 'don't say anything til after the funeral'. My window was wide open, my room was in silence, I heard it crystal clear and I knew something was wrong instantly. I want nothing to do with him and I know people may think I'm just being ridiculous, my mum and dad understand as they seen how upset I was by it but I honestly don't care if it upsets my auntie, I won't fall out with her I just hope she doesn't expect me to have anything to do with him as I think he's a horrible nasty piece of work.
Am I just overreacting though or do you think I am within my right to want anything to do with him?

You are right. But, You cannot change what you aunt is doing, and unless asked I would just say nothing and provide a safe place for your cousin. The fact is, it is not your battle to fight. It is easy to take on a battle when we need distraction from our own pain. Right mow you have to focus on you. Remember, no one can make you behave one way or another. Take yhe high road, set your boundries and assume the power.

You lost me somewhere between writing your letter and Auntie's panties down.....I will have to read this a few times. Meanwhile, please accept my sympathy on the loss of your friend.

Sorry Barbarame, I was just ranting and realise now it doesn't make a lot of sense, Basically my aunties partner was caught cheating on her with one of our cousins and he tried to used my boyfriends death as an excuse to cover it up by insisting my aunties daughter who caught him kept it quiet til after Matts funeral. I think he's disgusting for doing what he did in the first place but trying to used my boyfriends death to his advantage to cover his tracks is what has really upset me.

I agree with barb. This is drama you don't need, and shouldn't get involved with. That said, yes, provide a safe place for your cousin, and avoid that disgusting piece of work! You are right to not want to have anything to do with him!

I agree. You need to take care of yourself right now. Pick your battles, and that one isnt worth your time

Thank you for the replies and advice. I am staying out of it all but its hard to avoid it totally when my auntie lives next door, I get so angry every time I see him. I'm trying not to let it get to me and plan to just totally ignore him
