well, I met my ex (miriam) online and we dated for roughly a year, even making our relationship official when we met up and spent a few days together. things didn't work out so well though, especially with her living so far away, and eventually we broke up. I thought that, considering everything, the break up was mutual and there were no hard feelings. It took me a while getting over her, and I thought she had gotten over me.
I was wrong about that though. Her brother sent me an e-mail last week telling me that she wrote a suicide note and took a shitload of pills. In the note she said that she missed me and still wasn't over me. I didn't really know what to say or how to feel about that. I wasn't able to go to the funeral, as I didn't have the funds for it. Right now I still don't know entirely what to think, or how to really write this, but I want to say goodbye though. And since her e-mail account has been deactivated, I want to write it here.
So, Miriam:
even though I'm now with someone else, I will never forget the effect you had on me. There were a lot of fun times in both the few days we shared and the times online and I will never forget those. I love you and no matter what I'll never forget you. You really have been the best part of last year and of part of this year too.
I feel empty, and I know that the part of my heart that you filled will never be re-filled, as the only person that can fill that part is now gone.
I love you Miri, and I miss you, and I will never forget you.

Joseph, I'm not sure that her brother used very good sense in sending you that e-mail. Why did he send it? To punish you? To make you feel horrible? If so, he did a good job of it. I see no GOOD reason for him to send that to you. I think it was a very cruel thing to do. He could have advised you of her death, but he sure didn't have to tell you what the note said, etc.
I'm so sorry for all this Joseph. You don't deserve this. I will keep her in my prayers, but she must have been unstable to have done this. No one person has the power to force another into suicide. She had made her mind up already, but was just looking for a scapegoat. Then you came along. Good grief.
Don't hold this in your psyche ~ toss this out. It will eat you alive if you keep it. You are not responsible. God bless you, and take care of yourself. Peace, Lee
