The world of movie music has lost one of its greats. James Horner, composer of the music to Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, Glory, Star Trek Ii and III, among many other great movies, perished when his private plane that he alone was flying crashed in the California redwood forest. Thanks for the many wonderful notes, James! Your heart will go on, in your music.

He was one of the all-time greats, really hit his stride with director James Cameron on Titanic. One can't help but wonder what more could've been, how his music could've soared to even greater heights and plunged even deeper depths...a career that was on par to be as prolific as John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, at age 61 but a mere whippersnapper. We'll always have the great music you already composed, James. Thanks!

James Horner done amazing music. I have his soundtracks and its such a shame that he is gone. He done Casper too. Movie soundtracks will never be the same without him. :-(

I'm beefing up my Horner movie soundtrack collection a bit more now, collecting some of his early gems, to pump some more royalty money into his estate, to hopefully ease the aching hearts of his grieving family. There's an absolutely outstanding expanded edition of his score to Star Trek II-The Wrath of Khan out that I HAD to get.

Star Trek II is the score that really burst Horner into the mainstream in 1982 (oh, sure, he'd done the score to the low-budget film, Battle Beyond the Stars, for the Roger Corman studio, which is where he met future director James Cameron). This expanded edition seems to have every note of music Mr. Horner composed that was used in the film, including the heart-wrenching bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace" at the end during Spock's funeral, which seem appro po, appropriate to Mr. Horner's own passing.

Oh wow, that is awesome! I know, James Horner was brilliant at his work. He is a pro at making really sad songs wern't he? I am suprised not many people know/heard about him, considering he has done music for many famous. I think he done BraveHeart too right?

I feel in a way, his music MADE the movie if that makes any sense? He was brilliant. Really is so sad he is gone and so suddenly too.
