I lost my Dad a year ago, and my Mum was devasted. Half the reason was because of the way her friends reacted to this. They just said things like 'sorry for your loss' and 'hope you're ok' but how much does that really do? Real friends get their hands dirty and be there for you when you're sobbing. But they avoided her, saw her in the street and pretended to be on the phone. People don't really know how to react so they behave in strange ways.. These silly women are probably thinking you'll turn to their husbands for support and end up being with them.. I know it's a ridiculous thought but women can be ridiculous, we all know it. My advice (although I am younger than you and I hope it doesn't sound patronising) would be to surround yourself with people who are absolutely down to earth, and maybe some who have been through grief before. It's only really something you can relate to if you've been through it yourself. Then you wouldn't get these silly people causing you such hurt.

I can see why the married ladies thought you were scooping up their husbands, when you were simply craving some male comfort. Churches should really offer free counseling for the bereaved, as well as offer singles groups for widows and widowers to meet and talk.
I had to talk to the Big Man, God Himself, to get some closure. I spoke to God in pain and anger...stared into the blackness...and there He was...just blankly staring back at me...with no emotion whatsoever...with just a desire to envelope me with love and comfort...so I let Him. Let me tell you, it was some of the best, deepest sleep of my life!
God is with me now. I still have a rocky relationship with Him, but we're mates. And since I've embraced God, he's enabled me to see "glimpses" into the other side in dreams, where I've hung out with my departed brother. It was so nice, so peaceful.
Hope this helps...
