Hello everyone, my Mother died in December after a long (lllooonnnggg) history with prescription (and non-prescription) drugs and I was with her on her last day after not seeing her for almost a year. I was SUPER strong that day and I haven't really cried since. Except sometimes, I have these "moments" I guess you would call them, where I just ball crying, this deep heart-wrenching, uncontrollable, it's hard to breathe, snotty nosed crying. Then all of a sudden just as fast as it began, it stops!!! Then I can go for days or even a week or two and I will be fine, but the truth is, I am not fine. I am pissed, I kept telling her over and over and over for years to stop, and there was just no stopping her. On her last day, I felt like the Hospice people and even the nurses at the hospital (before they transported) her to the Hospice place treated her and looked at her like she was nothing but a piece of trash and I was so angry and I was just so upset that THIS was what her life had come down to: THIS!!! These strangers looking at her and secretly mocking her, actually, no, OPENLY mocking her with the way that they were looking at her, touching her and moving her. It was ridiculous and there were so many things that I wanted to say that I couldn't say. I guess I am not saying the right things in the forum, and I'm sorry I guess I just wanted you guys t know the story first. Anyway, also, my name is Julie.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

Well, good morning to you!Today is National Roller Coaster Day. Are any of you going? It's also National Tell-A-Joke Day! Come up with some and share!I'm not bright with jokes these days, but I'll start:"Today I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon...I'll let you know." :D

If hospice staff was treating your mom with anything other then respect then they shouldn't be working there
If your mom was addicted to drugs then she had a serious illness that always effects the whole family and I'm sorry that you've suffered so much
My Dad was an alcoholic and he did go for treatment when I was an adult but I know addiction
Narc anon might be a big help and support for you even now.... It's a great organization.... They're all over the place.... You just have to google it in your area
Grief is painful and it's a process.... It will take time..... You can get into grief therapy or a bereavement group
If there are things that you'd like to say to your mom but weren't able to you could write her a letter and read it to her
Gentle hug..... xo
I appreciate that, I really do, but the weird thing is: my sister died about 4 years ago from cancer. It was hard and for some reason I could "feel" her after she was gone, and still can sometimes. After my Mother died, there was nothing. Absoltely nothing. I didn't/don't feel her presence at all. The Hospice people were okay, I just felt it was like one big conveyer belt of a place, like- one after the other. It's hard to explain I guess, I live in south Florida 15 minutes North of Ft. Laurderdale and it's very populated and I think they just loked at her VERY tiny under nourished, bruised body like she was nothing but another druggie. Sometimes I don't even think it's HER perse, I miss, I think it's the way that I grew up, it's the way she treated herself, it's the way she died, the fact that she didn't have to die that way, and the fact that I wish I could have provided a proper funeral for her. Because she also said she had life insurance and she didn't we couldn't find any paper work for her, none!!! So, I had to have her cremated, and I knew she did NOT want that, but it was the only thing I could afford, I also ended up getting into a huge fight with my family other this situation witch now I am alone more than ever and the whole thing just sucks. I need to get over this and I know that, and I think I pretty much am, I think what is staying with me the most is the fact that people that I thought were friends, peple that I have known since I was 18 years old (I'm 39 now) didn't call/text/email or anything to even say "sorry for your loss" - nothing -. Who knows, maybe I am being a baby about the whole thing, I mean we are almost in May 2018, but it still hurts like hell. And I shouldn't be complaining, but I guess this is part of being an adult, we still know who are our fake friends are and who aren't I guess right??? Thnaks for being so sweet!!!
Julie
Your family had a extra huge load on your shoulders..... People like to think addicts are choosing the substance but at a certain point they truly aren't .....They're like a mouse on a turnstile and they can't get off without a lot of help.... They get lost in the addiction and it's so painful for the family
Intervention (the show) is really good and shows the process very clearly
You can love your mom and not like a lot of her choices..... I hope that in time you and your family can turn towards each other rather then away from each other
This happened to me as well.... My brother and I became estranged.... I have a psychiatrist and discussed it with him and he said to me you have no idea how often I hear this story
We grieve quite often when someone is declining but not yet passed and it's such an emotional rollercoaster
Your mom has just passed..... Of course you're going to be filled with a lot of conflicting emotions..... Gentle hug
