On November 1st,2012...it will be 25 years that I lost my father. My father was 71 when he passed away in 1987 and he was in very sickly health.Do you know that today i cried and i wept just like a baby.To the person in my grief group who remarked to "get over it...He is just your father." I would like you to stay away from me and never talk to me again. That remark was uncalled for. Please dont tell people that you know me.My father taught me a lot of things. And he did things with me that was unheard of in those days. The first thing that he did when I was a little girl was to establish a father daughter night. He would take me out to the local hot dog place and we would have chili dogs.We did this every week.My father believed that every one should spent time with their children and he was no exception. He also loved music and made sure that I took lessons and when he passed away...he had 675 albums in the house. He has Sinatra and he had Tony Bennett and he had Ella Fitzgerald and this is why I want to be a singer. He taught me to love good music and Dad didnt like rock and roll..but he loved Elvis Presley and liked Chuck Berry. He taught me that all music was good, but he liked the
old country and loved to cook chicken with those sloppy mashed potatoes. My father hurt his back many moods ago..but he was never crabby. He was always pleasant and had a smile on his face and was
a devout Catholic.Daddy loved museums and loved magazines and he loved life to the fullest. But he got sick and when he did he asked my
brother not to tell me.He didnt want me to worry. My father was not rich
nor was he famous...but he gave me life and he gave me strength and I remember when I was 16 and the President was killed I came home and I was crying...My father told me that they got the man who did it and he was sick and not to worry because things are going to be
rough for awhile but they will be alright. He was right you know.I have never tried drugs and i have never been in jail and the like.He taught me to begood and men...remember this...all girls need their fathers from 5 to 18 and you have to learn to accept them and give them the road to carry on without you in case you are not here.Daddy did.Daddy I miss you and I love you and you were the greatest father any girl can have.I hope to see you again.Vader and kramer the cat.

Wow, I feel like I could have written this post about my dad. I can't get over the similarities. I too lost my dad when he was 71. He loved music and writing, etc. I was his girl too in addition to being his only child. It's so hard to be without him. If someone made that comment to me like they did to you it would simply devastate me, I would be so hurt and angry too. I just wanted to say that I know exactly how you feel. Even though my dad passed away in 2011 I still cry for him everyday.

It was 39 years on October 7 this year that my dad has passed. I miss him every day of my life, he was 52 when he passed, he dropped dead on the kitchen floor. i've lost so much through the years without him, so much was unsaid he went so fast, massive heart attack. every year i seem to do a lot of crying at that time not even realizing what the date is. as far as the person who said GET OVER IT, that is the most RIDICULOUS thing i have ever heard and I, too, wouldn't want to have anything to do with her. You don't EVER get over the loss of a dad/mom, you just may handle it different as time goes on and NO ONE has the right to say get over it. i'm on your side vader. tc
