It cannot escape your heart, for it has been there forever.
Ahh koolman you reminded me of what I so miss of my loved ones. My Carmelo had a Soprano accent, he was from Brooklyn NY, I being from California just loved it. He also had a deep voice.
My sister had a voice that had a up and down to it but what I missed most of all, was her high pitch hee hee when she saw a baby or a cute pet. She was a calmer though.
As for the voices that make you cringe, give it to God. Ask him to please make that voice a joy to listen to.
I say this because, I had the bad habit of thinking in my mind at Mass oh no why do they keep their babies during the readings in Mass. I was so irate when a baby would start to fuss.
All of a sudden, I felt telling me, do not think of the voice annoying but think of it in a positive as I would think of it.
Hmmm, how would Jesus think of that voice? I thought of it and remembered he loved the little children so much, so I asked Him please Lord help me to love the voice as you would.
Now when I go to Mass, if I hear a baby crying, I think of it as God's little angels above crying for joy because we have so many members in the congregation today.
I will pray God gives you the ears to hear in through His Ears.
Yes, my brother's voice was one of calm. He was the peacemaker in the family, and the sound of his voice was pure bliss. One could get lost in it. Listening for that same tone again, and trying to orchestrate the ones I find irritating into a sort of cocophony of music of the soul.
It made me stop and think that if anything happened to Jack, I would miss his singing to me.
I stopped loathing Jack's singing his offkey diddys and now treasure them.
The point I am trying to make is, I had to "change the channel" on my thinking about something that really is precious and endearing.
