Good evening all,
This is my first time to this site. I lost my son back in September of 2016, he was only 19 years of age. I thought I felt pain when I lost my mother back in 2013 but, loosing a child is devestating and the pain is excruiating! There is not a day that goes by that I don't find myself thinking of my baby, the funny things he would say or do. I can not even begin to explain what I am experiencing. Not only am I having a difficult time but my husband and two other children are as well. However, I am the one who has to be strong for my daughter, she and her little brother were so close and she is really having a difficult time. Well, I am going to sign off for now. Peace and love to all!!!!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Someone very close to me lost her daughter a little over a year ago and joined a bereavement group in RL for parents who have lost children....
Your whole family could really benefit by grief counseling...Being with people who truly understand what you're going through can make a difference..... You help one another through the painful journey of grief....
DS is a great site.... I'm glad you're here.... Gentle hug and a blessing....xo

I cannot express to you how sorry I am for the loss of your son. Your words pained me right through to the core.
Losing one's own child is probably the most emotionally painful thing a person can experience. It's a really cruel and unfortunate act of nature - one that almost seems unnatural.
I think you deserve a massive applaud for maintaining strength and structure in your family during this very difficult and emotional time. That being said, you deserve to address the way you feel and just, well, grieve. I'm glad you're taking time off - you need it!
I once watched a video of a mother who had lost her son, and I remember her saying "You never get over the death of your child - you just learn to find a new normal". I took note of what she said because I thought her words were quite powerful. Your and your family's lives will always be altered by this loss, but you will in time learn to adapt to this new reality as a family.
I think the good thing about having other children is that a presence can be felt through the other children, and hopefully that can provide even the teeniest bit of comfort from time to time.
It seems that your family are a strong unit and will support each other through this difficult time. I hope that you can come together to suppprt and heal one another, and eventually find a 'new normal'.
During this time, I'd urge you and your family to utilise charities and organisations that deal with grief and bereavement. There are a lot of them and they can be very helpful!
Sending you all the love and light that I have to give. You are an outstanding mother and I truly admire your strength, resilience and integrity during this time.

I found your post to be both uplifting and powerful! Your words of comfort, strength and love was needed and accepted with love! Thank you for all of the kind words regarding my resilience and strength. I must give credit to my loving and supporting family unit; we are each other's keepers. I have not sought out any groups or bereavement organizations, but I do have one in mind; Compassionate Friends has a local chapter here in Jacksonville and I will look into sitting in on a meeting one day soon whenever my spirit leads me that way.
Thank you again for your words of encouragement and compassion!
I lost my 18yr old son in October of 2016. I seriously feel your pain. It has been the worst emotional rollercoaster that I have ever been on. Not a day goes by that he is not on my mind. I am still waiting for him to walk through the door. Mother's day was extremely hard as well. I have a 16yr old son that is struggling with his death as well. He watched his brother pass away. I can't even imagine what he is going through, as he won't talk to me. So, as you can see, I'm not even sure I'm dealing with his death the way I should be. You seem to be very strong. And I'm so sorry for your loss. Nothing compares to losing a child.
