one that you really like?
it is close to a year since my mom passed.
i have found by accident that a photo i have of her and
i together smiling has helped put the memory of the last
time i saw her slightly less clear. I am glancing at it right now.
it gives me a small smile of missing her not the desperate
pain it stabbed with the first weeks after she passed.
mom had been living with my sister due to vascular dementia
for 3 years. her sudden turn for the worse had placed her
in a hospital bed with visiting hospice care. when i was able
to get out of state to see her she was old, frail, confused, upset and almost unable to talk.
this image of the woman i never knew kept stepping on the memories of my mom. the strong, independent woman who i
am still proud to call mom and happy to call friend...
i want my image of her to be the woman i knew and miss, the
woman in the photo, not the woman trapped inside a fragile body
with a broken mind that i had trouble seeing as my mom..
Browneyes... i pray the memory of your precious grandpa is replaced by comforting images that give you a smile and gentle peace.
i am not sure if the pain will ever leave but i have found it less ...
sharp and raw as time moves further along.. that is what i pray
for you hon...
~warm hugs and hopeful smiles~
I am thinking, maybe you could write a journal about your thoughts and feelings, then when you are done you don't need to remember everything because it'll all be on a paper. It helps me too.
I remember when I found my mother in her sleep, I thought it'd be with me for the rest of my life. As years passed, I don't remember much, but I do remember how I found her. Not as so much details
