I see this sort of thing all the time (drunk driving, textin & driving, and sleep deprived driving). All are dangerous/deadly.....trust me on this. I have seen whole families wiped out becuz of this AVOIDABLE situation.
Vader ~ I think this thread should have been named "Place the blame on the right person" and I think you truly meant it to be as such becuz in cases such as this someone needs to be responsible.
However, when a person has an "addiction" or affliction, most of the time they live in denial and do not get the help they need. Most alcoholic's do not believe they have a problem and our laws are not strict enough to stop them. How many times do you read that someone has 3 or more DUI's and is still driving? Even if their license is taken away.....they are still driving. We read it daily. And punks like Bieber and Lohan are just a few ppl that need more than community service or rehab (Lindsey has done 7 stints in rehab already and she just admitted that she drank right out of rehab recently). Becuz they are ALLOWED to get away with it....why shouldn't others? (I say that sarcastically). It's a crime that the laws are not stricter and I blame the judges and lawyers that slap ppl on the wrist and do not throw the book at these ppl.
I was driving home from the funeral home Monday when I thought for sure the car in front of me was going to have a head on or hit a tree. He was swerving all over the road and was driving into oncoming traffic. I would bet my life on it that he was texting and driving! Here this guy is trying to get killed and I had just worked on a 46 year old woman at the funeral home who lost her life to a brain tumor! She fought for her life and this dude was playing Russian Roulette with his. All so unnecessary!
IMO it's more about placing blame on the right person. Other times....no one is to blame.
I'm sorry about your friends daughter and hope she recovers completely.
I hope the judge throws the book at the drunk driver....but we can only hope.
thanks.
