I just wanted to let members know that there's been a religious group coming to DS called Focus on Family
Their purpose of coming here is to recruit members.... They don't come to a support group for support
They want to give members literature, phone numbers, advise 'their' counciling and bring you into this group.... They are regularly banned from this site as this behaviour isn't allowed on here
DS is a support site for people of all faiths or no faith however it's not a place to recruit
If you are bothered by this you can report it directly to DS or through one of the CL's... TY
Big hug....xo

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Some people need to vent, a lot, often using rough our foul language. As long as the language is directed at the situation (which may be a non-DS person) and not DS members I am, for the most part, fine with it. I can modify my language to suit the occasion.
Some people need faith as an integral part of their support. It is very important to them to know that their recovery/support falls within what is acceptable to their God. I can wade in those waters, but can't swim in the deep end like others I know here.
Some people have had their faith seriously challenged as a result of their issues. It is very important that they be able to verbalize this so that they can work it out to their satisfaction. It is fine to offer religious viewpoints in response, but it is not OK to pressure them to swing one way or the other.
Some people are atheists, or agnostic, and need support that fits in that framework. Again, this is what we are here for. Pushing faith on such a person is to me as offensive as pushing a person of faith to have anonymous gratuitous sex with random people.
