My mama died on May 17, 2017 and I am heartbroken. Mama and I were very close but in the last few years of her life, she suffered from diabetes, strokes, alzheimer's, edema and a UTI. To make matters worse, mama couldn't do anything for herself. I was her caregiver for over two years and I know she appreciated everything I did for her. I wished I was able to do more. I'll admit caregiving is no fun, it's exhausting and at times I felt trapped. I was at a total loss as to what to do with myself when she first died because you go from full-time caregiving + working a full-time job to just a job. After she died, I didn't want to go back to work, but I didn't want to stay home because everything at home reminds me of mama. I was completely lost and I felt like an orphan, even though I'm 48. I wish I could have her back. I don't want her to be sick of course, but I wish I could turn the clock back when she was well. I'd give up everything just to see her again.
Each day is a chore just to get going. Life doesn't have any meaning right now. I hope it gets better but right now, I feel like quitting everything.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I miss my folks particularly on the special days.... It's been a few years now so I can celebrate their lives much more now.... Little things can make me smile when they come to mind...It takes time to come to that point though.... First we have to work through the grief.... Another hug and a blessing......xo
Big hug for you as well Hawk.... I am sorry for your loss.....xo
Sorry for your loss. x

One of the best things I learned is that we are in search of a new normal. the old one included our (mother, father, sibling, etc), but that normal is gone. On the plus side, my new normal now includes a grand niece and 2 grand nephews that I did not have 5 years ago. I see them often enough to see them change. And that is such a joy!
The first 3 months are full of shock, grief, heartache, and lostness. The pain is overwhelming. It is okay to feel the depth of that pain and daily. The next 6 months are difficult as is the first year especially around holiday times.
Be good to you. Be kind to your body. Eat healthy food even when you don't feel like eating. Get good sleep and fresh air. Don't drown your pain in drink. That doesn't help. Do something nice for yourself.
Find a mini vacation spot near where you live once a week or even once a day. Hug a dog. Hug a pillow.
Find some new interest or hobbie even in the quiet. Enjoy nature. Keep living and keep going forward. Your Mom would want you to do that.
We grieve deeply because we love deeply and because the person was so special and important to us so it is okay to grieve however you need to and for how ever long you need. No one can tell you how to grieve and for how long.
It is a jouney, but there will be many things along this journey that will be bright spots along the way. And the heavy load will get lighter with time.
Be gentle with you--your heart is broken. So be very gentle and tender with your broken heart.
A BIG blanket of warm comfort wrapped totally around you right now.
