I am happy that the two of you have reconnected.
When my father passed, it was the last of the family I was born into. My wife got upset at me, telling me that she loved my father too. I think that she has to take it on faith that there are times when deaths, even when separated by years, can add up and the sorrow of them all is more than the sorrow of the individual passings. But she has helped pull me back into that elusive state we call 'normal'.
It is a delicate dance, getting a spouse or BF to move back to a more normal existence. You will find a way that works, most likely by asking him what works for him.
Gentle hugs
Your'e so right Pepperman, I stopped asking for advice from so many well meaning friends, and instead focusing on how my boyfriend is from day to day. Knowing when to give him space, and when he needs to talk about his son. And just letting him know he can feel whatever emotions he is feeling at any given time, and there is no set rules on the stages of grief.
