There is not a "one size fits all" way to deal with loss. Things that are helpful to one person may destroy another, and vice versa. We all have our methods, take what works for you and leave the rest.
I have a friend in bereavement class who has a room full of pictures of her departed husband, a man in the class has a life sized blow up of his wife and he talks to it and even dances with it. Some people write letters to their departed spouse and have a ritual burning of them as a way of sending the letter to heaven via smoke.
Talk as much about him as you need, when you need. Within limits. I have learned (from a long time dealing with depression) that we need to respect the limits others have on listening to us. One friend may be able to listen to us for hours on end, another can only take short bursts of venting. These are neither character flaws nor strong points. They are what they are. We need to learn to live within the framework of our friends personalities.
Sorry to get so very wordy here. Again I am sorry for your loss, and welcome to DS!
Thinking of you today. Hope you're doing ok. (((HUGS)))
