Bereavement Support Group
Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Whether you lost someone recently or it's been years, grief and its accompanying emotions can be complicated to cope with. Join our online support group to connect with a supportive group of people who really know how you feel. Help is right here.
If you attend church or synagogue, talk to a spiritual leader. There is a group called Compassionate Friends: didn't work for me but might for you, you'll pretty much know after the second visit.
Your whole life is ahead of you. Your father loves you, you will come to accept this and you can live a very full life.
Grieving in your circumstances of being so young may take a lifetime,,,,but it won't always be as raw/intense as it is right now. You will find ways to incorporate your dad into your special events that come into your life down the road.
Your dad has left you physically, but not spiritually.....he is all around you :)
Glad you found this site.....I think it will help in conjunction with speaking to someone in person (((((((Hugs))))))))
I know my brother would not want me sitting around stewing about his death. He would want me to live my life to it's fullest (he died when we were both teens). He would rather me dwell on the wonderful times we had together than to sit and cry year after year. Don't get me wrong......I still cry becuz I loved/love him and miss him dearly.
I went on to have a family of my own. Unfortunately......that family didn't work out........but I have found other ppl that are wonderful and have taken me in and treat me well.
Life DOES go on.....differently......but it does go on. I think of my brother (and now my dad) and miss them every day.
I guess knowing that someday we will all be together again.....forever.....keeps me sane.
I recently found tons of pictures of my brother.......and I wept.
I found a ring of his that I had totally forgotten about.......and now I wear it.....37 years later becuz it makes me feel closer to him.
I find little things all the time.....it lets me know he is still around in spirit.
I use to get insanely jealous of siblings getting together or going on outings (I felt cheated)......but I let that all go becuz it was eating me all up on the inside that I could not indulge in such a luxury.....that took 27 years to come to that point.
You will not heal over night......it takes years sometimes........you just won't feel the intensity ALL THE TIME. I know that you will heal if you just continue to talk about your loved one who passed....keep the memories alive and look for little ways they try to communicate with you from the other side.
Always remember.....you never get over it....you just get through it.
The only thing that scares me, worse than death, is not living life to the fullest, living a hum-drum life, which seems to be happening, so I say and do crazy things every now and then just to shake myself up a bit, feel SOMETHING.
