It's been over 7 years since my brother passed. I still feel the void of him not being here, but it doesn't hurt anymore. I've formed some new friendships and rekindled some old ones with "brothers from other mothers", developed close bonds with my sisters' children, been keeping my brother's memory alive for myself and the rest of my family members by lovingly compiling videos of my brother when he was alive and well, and I've had several visits with him in the other side while I've been asleep and dreaming.
Monday night I attended my great niece's pre-K moving up ceremony...my brother died in 2005 before either of his granddaughters (my great nieces) were a twinkle in anyone's eye...
Every visit with my great nieces make me feel very happy and close to my brother... :-)
Sometimes I think a little bit of the deceased is there...in the newborns.
The fire department chief who responded to the call knew my brother & we talked...a gift 9 years later...my friend is home form the ER & doing well...
The gift of "connecting" with my brother & a friend being OK...
