Palm Sunday is not only the beginning of Holy Week for many but also a day when you visit people - living or deceased - and bring Palm. While Mama wasn't one for commercially made Palm Crosses, I'd decided to bring one in hopes of cleaning up any debris at the grave, so it could be readied for Mother's Day. Weather too cold yet for Easter planting.
Strangely, almost all of my previous visits have been minus tears (and I couldn't explain it). This time, 2 1/2 years later, I found myself in tears as I walked towards the grave - and then weeping out loud once there. Talking to Mama and begging her for a sign. I can't explain this. And I can't explain why I didn't visit my Dad's cemetery - so much closer. I can't help but wonder if they hear / see us. Do they know?

My SIL told me that she was reading a book on grief, that said the author believe that the spirit of a deceased person remains with it's loved ones for 1 year. This gives the deceased person time to adjust to their "new life" and the loved ones left behind the comfort of knowing they are still with us... Whether you believe or not, is your personal choice, but I DO believe... My mother's sign was a white bird, just like the one on her casket... my nephew /God son's is a dragon fly and my husband, it's a rainbow... In each instance that these items appeared for the loved one I lost, I would have been talking to them and asking for a sign with in 24 hours the rainbow appeared. It was the biggest brightest rainbow I had ever seen... I asked my hubby how he was going to make up for killing himself and burning down our house, then I got the rainbow...
