I am writing this column to help the newly grieving.Sometimes grief can get the best of us.When this does happen...it is not grieving. It is one of the signs of acute depression. My boyfriend Brad of 12 years died on May 22nd,2009.It wasnt a natural death. It was very gruesome and I did experiecne trauma for quite some time.At the time of his death,Brad and i were not getting along. We were fighting almost everyday over his binge drinking and i could not take it anymore. You see,I threaten to leave him and Brad did not like to be alone. One of the reasons why Brad drank so was because he was very lonely. He tried to make friends and for some reason...he just couldnt do iut.he tried. He tried at work and he tried at school. He had a few friends in college and this is where I was more concerned.Brad would drink everyday when he would call someone and ask them to do something. They would usually tell him no.I think one of the reasons why Brad had a hard time is because noone and I mean noone wants to be friends with a drinker.Everyone knows that when a person drinks...well things happen and this is what these people feared. Some of them just did not want to be bothered. So he drank and he would pour out his heart to me and sometimes Brad would break down.Brad tried to get help for his drinking. But with the budget cuts in Washington,he was put on hold. One doctor could only see him every 4 months.A person has to be seen almost every week or once a month.Brad tried and I tried my best to be a perfect companion for him.But i failed.I cannot be everything to be everyone.I cannot do it.I am living in a different apartment now and I have got a new life.I wouldnt be able to do it with Brad.If he lived, the circumstances would have been different and depression grows worse in time if not treated.IF you know someone who has depression...tell them to get help and medication to help.Tell them to join a support group and tell them that there is a cure for depression. It is called therapy.Brad failed. And I am here everyday wondering what I did wrong and what I said wrong and I hope that I did not offend anyone with this column. Thanks a bunch ....vader.

My mom died 2 months ago.she committed suicide. since I can remember mom has had to deal with depression-she was bi-polar. Due to her being bi-polar we had issues the last year of her life and had just started trying to repair our relationship and it was going good but she had fallen in a deep depression and couldn't take being lonely and depressed anymore. We had always been really close, she was my rock. She would call me in the end telling me she couldn't do it anymore.the day it happend my brother and sister was going to take her to hospital but it was to late. Today 2 months later I have fallen into a deep depression and can't focus, crying, lost, anger and I'm also going through peri menopause. I'm a mess and I think I'm about to loose my job because I'm making mistakes due to all of this. I'm scared and trying to get better by getting help. No I'm not suicidal due to knowing what it leaves behind for the love ones.
