Hello all. I am an old-timer on DS but a newcomer to this group.
My youngest son and his wife were killed in a car wreck in September, 2019. At the risk of renewed psychotherapy for my "Survivor/Saviour Complex," I compare inheriting their 3 orphans to The Immaculate Conception of Triplets at age 65. At the time of orphanhood, the children were 6, 3 and 8 months old. What a long, strange trip it has been and continues to be. Here at the end of Coronaville (so I pray), I'm not even sure which planet my isolated little ship of fools is on. Hubs and I were settling into a new area when the accident happened and were completely blindsided by the Corona Crowning. Who had time to keep up with the news in China? Our "Grand Family" was socially marginalized before the marshal law isolation. At present, we are still stumbling on the undefined feat of closing those social distances. Accredited expert I ain't, but I still solidly believe my Pre-Corona psychotherapy that masking, social distancing and isolation are far from healthy.
Anyhoo. . .
Today is the oldest child's 8th birthday. Girl, howdy, we are feeling the absence of Mommy and Daddy. Ouchie Papa. . .
Processing Mommy's death has been the hardest of the ordeal. She called me, "Monster-in-Law" and treated me accordingly. She was dancing the divorce waltz at the time of the accident. I can all too easily imagine yet another round of the STBX waltz as the cause of the accident. What's to miss?
To me, my DIL was an irritation who didn't want to be part of the family anyway.
Mommy and DIL are two different subjects. There was no doubt she loved her children dearly and they miss her greatly.
Oh for the love of balance. . .

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

Processing. . .
The birthday party received an unexpected blessing. Other children! ! ! A brother and a sister, ages 6 and 7. A splendid time was had by all.
As a wife, she sounded like a Facebook cliché. As a bestie, she sure could dance and sing. In my psychotic processing, I wonder if I have heard her ask me to forget The DIL and teach her children about the bestie.
Just wondering. .
