Every year when my dad's birthday comes around, I listen to his favorite song and have a little moment to myself. He is obviously not here, so this gesture is for me. To remind myself that he was once here, that he is indeed gone, that the pain is real, and that while he was here he was very valuable to me. I suggest you do something, whatever you like, even if no one else does. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I've heard of some people getting a balloon and setting it free on the anniversary of someone you love

I think about my loved ones who have died regularly.... They were so special to me and always will be..... Another hug.....xo

Sorry I missed your post and your brother's birthday has passed.
How did you spend it?
My son's first birthday since he passed happened in March.
I still baked him a banana cake because that's what I did every year.
I lit a candle in front of his urn and picture and burned it all day. I asked friends and family to light a candle too.
I wrote down every memory I had of the day he was born.
That was a very happy day of my life but now it's a very sad day of my life.

i went to his grave and hung out with him. i talked to him and stayed the night with him.

My fiance was tragically killed on his 10 speed bicycle on the 2nd of November last year leaving my house. I decorate the pole that is in the area where he was run down. I do it EVERY MONTH and iff there is a holiday in that month I do it up BIG!!!! U do whatever it takes to comfort yourself. I learned theres no time limit on grief and EVERYONE grieves differently. Theres NOTHING wrong with hanging out with him and staying. I would do the same thing!!!! So sorry for your loss. I to Loss my brother and many others as well. My fiances death took a huge toll on me though. I am here if u need me just friend me ok KIT

14 years and I celebrate my son’s birthday every year...

I feel like there is nothing wrong with hanging out with him, indeed if it makes you feel better, it is a good choice. I know I am new to this and yesterday marked a year of my cousin's death and I wish I knew how to come with his loos but I am trying. I know you felt better after hanging out with him and talking to him. You are giving ideas on remembering them :)
