Dear Supporters, friends, family and my guardian angels,
In my 51 years of living on this earth I have done plenty of wrongs, along with plenty of rights but most of all I have always done my very best to stay as close to God as I can. The grieving process is different for each loss from your favorite pet, sibling, acquaintances, friend, in laws, best friends, grand parents, aunts and uncles, parents and spouses etc.
Not to minimize the loss of my Awesome brothers, and all my sisters, but this year I lost two of my very best friends my Husband and my Mother, I still daily listen to voice mails I have saved from them and still even catch myself dialing their numbers only to remember that I don't have the number to heaven. I would love to say that the clouds have lifted and I see the silver lining ahead, and for awhile I truly felt that way. But unfortunately that changed, however, I know God has a plan and therefore I still get up every day thank God that I am alive turn my day over to him and face my day with him at my side. When I first started grieving, I was numb, bitter, angry and jealous of the people around that kept saying they were in a better place. I even did my best to hurt others feelings to see if that may make me feel better, it didn't do anything but make me feel worse to have hurt others when my hurt shouldn't have been used on them. One thing I have learned is that people all grieve differently and there is no right or wrong way no one can walk in your shoes.
Many in my support groups have found that the people they were sure that would be there to support them through it all RAN, and yet others became their angels and lifted them up when needed. It has also been stated that true friends and family should allow you to grieve wherever, whenever and however you need to without judgments. Even though I am still grieving and will continue to do so in order to survive, If during this time I have wronged you I am truly sorry. I am not asking for forgiveness nor pity. I simply want to start a strong support group that I can rely on for prayers, jokes, building memories laughter, and having great chats with etc. when the " what if mode sets in."
I lost Ernie my husband a little over a year ago after being his sole care giver for 2.5 years, I had a failed neck/spine surgery, my brother Mike passed away, and my Mother/best friend passed away, during this time I had a back surgery within three months and now I have had a second neck/spine surgery on October 31st. However, on October 30th I received a telephone call at 5:15 PM from my doctor to let me know that my 4 mammograms, 2 ultrasounds and biopsies show that my breasts are malignant. She had already set an appointment for me to go see a surgeon Friday, November 7th. I was still advised to go ahead with the neck/spine surgery because by time I get all the pre-op and insurance clearances set up for my mastectomy it would be awhile and in all that time I could be healing from the spine/neck surgery.
November 7th, my surgeon told me that I am not a candidate for an MRI because of the medal in my neck. Therefore the cancer at this point can not be staged by the biopsy's, mammograms, and ultrasound show my team of surgeons enough that there is a strong possibility that I will not only need 7 weeks of radiation but also a strong possibility that chemotherapy will also be needed after my radical double mastectomy on January 13, 2015.
Now for the silver lining and blessings through God's grace:
I have two AWESOME SONS, AND TWO AWESOME DAUGHTERS-in-laws. Really more like DAUGHTERS.
My son Byran's Ranger Regiment was attacked in Afghanistan even though he was injured and received a purple heart God spared him to be completely restored health wise, even though he lost many of his Ranger brothers that horrible night. He is currently attending college while still serving as a US Ranger. His wife Kelly is truly a God send, such a bright go getter, that supports Bryan every step of the way!
My son Stephen has just started a new career with the State of Arizona, along with serving our country as a Sergeant in the Army reserve while attending college full time. His wife Taylor will be graduating in December and is also working full time.
In my bereavement widow/widowers group I met a man Richard who lost his wife Brenda to cancer October 14th just 4 days before I lost Ernie October 18th both of them to the same cancer, We had both been their sole care givers and had a lot in common and were always willing to share our wonderful memories of our AWESOME spouses. Richard is also a 1 year cancer survivor and has an awesome 87 year old Dad Richard that is AMAZING he became a widow for the second time in 2013. We are all great support to each other we thank God, Brenda, Ernie and Elizabeth for bringing us together. Their is Nothing better than being loved and hugged daily.
My lower spine surgery was a SUCCESS.
My Neck surgery is in week 3 of HEALING SUCCESSFULLY
