I am new to this group.
This has been a tough week for me, which it seems tougher this year than last year which is a little odd to me. Monday would have been my parent's anniversary, today marks the last day I seen my father before he passed away and tomorrow is the 3 year anniversary of his passing.
Since it has been 3 years sometimes I feel silly for being so sad. My husband does support me but this is not an area he understands as he doesn't remember anniversaries and doesn't understand why people want to remember something so sad. I do okay most days but some days I just break down for one reason or another and allow myself to cry.
I of course miss him like crazy. I think this year is harder because I have been at my new job, which is a huge life event, for 9 months and never got to tell my dad about it. As well as my grandma passed away little over a month ago and her birthday is next Monday. I know he would have been so proud and excited and would have loved to hear what he had to say. I often wonder if it gets easier with time, I do feel I have learned to live my new normal life but still seem surreal that I have to say my dad died some days.
I have family things this weekend and will get to see my dad's brother which will be a blessing and I look forward to that moment. Just having a ton of emotions today and needed to get them out on paper.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

My FIL passed over 30 years ago; his wife (who lives with us) gets sad every year near that date. My wife gets sad, but in a different way. I guess that we all expect to have our parents die on us, but not our spouses, and we certainly don't expect to outlive our spouse by 30 or 40 years.
I never really understood why the loss effected my wife and MIL the way that it did. About all I could do was to accept that it did and respect their emotions.
Now I've lost my birth famiy (sister, then mother, then father) and I find that my wife does not really understand why these losses have added up and effected me the way that they have.
I think that part of the thing is to accept that our spouse does not understand our loss, but that we need to accept that they are supporting us as best they can.
Look to the good things in your father, and become them as best you can so that you can pass these experiences on to those who accept it.
I never imagined I would loose a parent so young as I was 27 and fighting cancer when my father passed away so I think that makes it even more challenging. My mother is doing well as she can considered, and I hope she can find someone, even just a friend to spend her years with and not be on her own since I am hoping she has many years of life left only being 58 years old.
