Now that it's been a year people think I should be picking up the pieces and going back to "normal". But things will never be normal again. Everyone can see that I'm not the same as I used to be. That's because a part of me is missing and I'll never get it back.
I'm sorry that you lost your dad so soon. Dads are special people.
My sister was only in her 40's. She didn't get the chance to do much of anything. I hate this unfair life. I just bought a car and all we wanted was to roll around town and enjoy shopping together and finally enjoying the freedom of a car, but we didn't get that chance. When you lose something so close, so precious to you, all you can think of is how that thing is gone.
It's like living in a house without a roof. Over the years you don't get used to not having a roof. It's constantly on your mind. I can't turn my mind off, I can't stop thinking about she is gone forever.
I think that we need to let go, but not forget.
Allow the hole in our hearts to be filled in with the presence of others. It may be current F&F (family and friends) who take on more roles, or it may be new people to our lives.
It may even be us filling part of that hole.
Gentle hugs
